How I Help
Identifying unique qualities and strengths
Healing past challenges and traumas
Uncovering interconnections between the past, present and future
When I work with individuals, I focus on more than just the individual; I focus on the systems you belong to and how those systems shape who you are today. I get to know you and your life experiences, including and not limited to your upbringing, family relationships, work relationships, friendships, etc., as all of these areas in your life make you the unique individual you are. I get to know your strengths, areas in your life you want to improve, and explore how we can get you to where you want to be in life.

I’ve never been to therapy. How do I choose a therapist?
Finding a good therapist is like finding a good pair of shoes: sometimes you have to try on a few to see what fits.
Look for a therapist whom you feel comfortable with, someone you can have a cup of coffee/tea with. Do they work with the challenges you are going to therapy for - trauma, depression, family conflict, relationship issues, etc.? Check their rates. Do they offer sliding scale, super-bill (please refer to “Can I use my insurance?” for more information on a super bill), and/or accept your insurance? Schedule a consult call before booking an appointment. If it feels like a good vibe, schedule an appointment.
Will I get a diagnosis?
Not everyone meets the criteria for a diagnosis. At Redemption Songs Family Therapy, I explore many aspects in your life that can be contributing to mental health challenges. If you meet the criteria for a diagnosis, we will have a conversation about it and process it together. Sometimes a diagnosis can help make sense of the challenges we are experiencing, identify the patterns that allow the challenges to continue and develop skills to reduce the impacts of the challenges. A diagnosis is not one-size-fits-all, and is often specific to the individual with symptoms ranging on a spectrum, so it is important to know how the diagnosis affects you. A diagnosis can change over time and there are several factors that can increase or decrease
I have a psychiatrist and other providers on my care team. Do you communicate and collaborate with other members of my care team?
Yes, collaboration is very important in maintaining the best care possible. Oftentimes it can be difficult and unsettling to think of your providers talking with one another. However, I notice it creates a more holistic and connected care team. Keeping a release of information on file for your primary care doctor, family doctor, OBGYN, etc., allows for necessary collaboration to best support your healing journey. Allowing communication with the other providers on your care team creates less headache for you to have to remember specific details and language common to the health care field. Don’t take on the health care system alone; we can help. Collaboration is key!
Can I use my insurance?
Not necessarily; I am not in-network with insurance companies. However, I offer a super bill if your insurance accepts an out-of-network provider. Here is how a super bill works: you pay for your session weekly, at the end of the month you receive a statement which will require a mental health diagnosis and other relevant information. You will then submit the super bill to your insurance company for reimbursement. I also accept payment through HSA/FSA funds.
